Degrees Offered at Trine University

Trine University appears in our ranking of the 30 Best Online Bachelor’s in Psychology Programs at Private Colleges. Trine University offers nearly 40 different bachelor’s degrees and seven associate’s degrees across five different schools:

The university is nationally recognized for its Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering program. Trine University’s doctorate of Physical Therapy was established in 2014. The program puts students through an intensive three-year series of courses, lab work, and clinical placement in real hospital settings. First-year undergraduates interested in earning a doctorate can apply to the university’s Direct Entry program. This guarantees them admission to the doctorate after completing a bachelor’s degree in Biology or Exercise Science. The Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering has been offered since 2010. Students have access to high-tech bioengineering and biomechanics labs. They can minor in robotics or bioprocess engineering. Because the degree curriculum is modular, the program is highly customizable. The online Master of Science in Organizational Leadership offers graduate students the ability to complete their degree completely online in as little as a year. New classes start on a rolling basis every eight weeks. The program accepts international students as well as those in all 50 states.

About Trine University

Trine University is a private, nonprofit university in Angola, Indiana. The university was founded as Tri-State Normal College in 1884. It became a university in 1975. It changed its name from Tri-State to Trine in 2008. The U.S. News & World Report ranks Trine 46th in regional Midwest universities  and  30th in  Best Value Schools indicator. It also appears on the Princeton Review’s Best Regional Colleges list. In addition to its degree programs, the university runs Innovation One. This is a program that provides students in engineering and business fields with on-the-job training through access to its cutting-edge labs. Innovation One is a unique program to Trine, combining traditional internships with close faculty guidance. It also offers:

Trine University Accreditation Details

Trine University is regionally accredited through the Higher Learning Commission. The school’s engineering program is accredited by ABET’s Engineering Accrediting Commission (EAC). Its teacher preparation programs are jointly accredited by:
  • the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation
  • the Indiana Department of Education/Office of Educator Licensing and Development
The doctorate in Physical Therapy is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. Business programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. The Master of Physician Assistant Studies launched in 2018. It has provisional accreditation status by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant.

Trine University Application Requirements

High school graduates who want to apply need to complete the ACT and SAT or both and send their scores to the university. A high school transcript is also required. There is no application fee, and students do not need to write an application essay. For graduate degrees, applicants will need:
  • official transcripts from all post-secondary schools they have attended
  • an essay
  • a resume
  • GMAT or GRE scores
The Master of Physician Assistant Studies and doctorate of Physical Therapy have additional requirements. They’re described on the university’s graduate admission website.

Tuition and Financial Aid

The cost per academic year for a full-time student is $32,330 during the 2019-2020 academic year. There’s an additional $550 charge for engineering students. Undergraduate students must also pay student and technology fees totaling roughly $600. Undergraduate courses taken during the summer are $400 per credit hour. There’s an additional $100 per credit hour for engineering classes. Graduate courses are offered at $565 per credit hour, with the exception of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies and the doctorate of Physical Therapy. These two programs are more expensive. The Master of Physician Assistant Studies costs $92,050, or $13,150 per semester for seven semesters. That cost includes:
  • all needed online subscriptions
  • books
  • lab supplies
  • technology fees
  • a membership in the American Academy of Physician Assistants
The cost of a doctorate in Physical Therapy varies depending on the starting year. This three-year program includes fall and spring semesters each year at between $13,500 and $15,000 per semester. Two summer terms cost $13,000-$14,000 each. Undergraduate courses taken through Trine Online cost $399 per credit hour, with a reduced price of $250 per credit hour for active duty military students. Graduate courses taken online cost the same as those in person, at $565 per credit hour. Undergraduate students can take advantage of federal, state, and Trine-offered grants. The university also offers a number of scholarships. All students can apply for Federal financial aid or student loans. Graduate students may file for deferred billing if they are employed by a company that offers tuition reimbursement for an advanced degree. With deferred billing, students may pay 30 days after their grades are posted each semester. Students paying the full amount on their own can take advantage of a six-, five-, or four-month installment plan for each semester. Students at Trine University have many options available, whether they are looking for an undergraduate or graduate degree, or seeking to learn online or in person.
