About University of Arkansas

The University of Arkansas Fayetteville is a public research university in Fayetteville. It is part of the University of Arkansas System. It’s the largest university in the state with an enrollment of over 25,000 students. The student/faculty ratio of 19:1. UA offers relatively small class sizes in conjunction with the many resources and benefits of a large, thriving public university. It was founded in 1871. UA was established as a land-grant college with the mission of maintaining a state university. The first academic building, known as Old Main, still exists as a campus landmark today. The campus boasts numerous green spaces and tree-shaded walkways. The university has a diverse student body bolstered by a robust international student program. The University of Arkansas is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). HLC is an accrediting body recognized by the US Department of Education. University of Arkansas Application Requirements

Undergraduate admissions encourages students to apply by an early deadline to receive priority consideration for:

High school seniors should apply to the university in the fall of their senior year. They must fill out an online application and submit their official high school transcripts to the university. ACT and SAT scores must be submitted through official channels to the department of admissions. When considering applicants, spaces will be filled on a rolling status throughout the year. This is why it is important to apply as early as possible for the best chances of acceptance. Certain departments, such as business and sciences, may have additional application requirements for students who wish to study in those fields. Graduate applicants to UA must have completed an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution. For certain programs, such as business or engineering degrees, students must have baccalaureate degrees from a related field. In some cases, applicants with non-related degrees may qualify through completing prerequisites before beginning their program. Applicants must submit:

  • a current resume
  • a personal statement
  • academic or professional references
The schools of Law and Business have a separate application process for applicants to their graduate programs.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Undergraduate cost for attending UA is $9,966.30 per semester. This cost includes:

Students studying in fields like engineering or nursing must pay additional facility and course fees. Merit-based scholarships from UA are offered to accepted students in a financial aid award letter. Earlier applicants will have priority in receiving this aid. Graduate tuition at UA is $8,571 per year for in-state students and $20,792 per year for out-of-state students.
