Multiple programs are available for experienced educators, including those who have a teaching license and at least two years of experience. Antioch University lets those educators earn degrees in fields such as integrated STEM education and educating for sustainability.

About Antioch University

Antioch University owns and operates an online campus and several traditional campuses in the United States. It was established in 1852 as a private institution. It followed the same education and learning format that Harvard University used, opening as a coeducational school called Antioch College. This college grew during the 1960s and 1970s as it opened new education centers across the country. In the late 1980s, the system shut down many of its campuses to focus on just six branches. It also shut down a campus in Yellow Springs, Ohio, which would later reopen as an independent school called Antioch College. The system continues operating a Yellow Springs graduate school called Antioch University Midwest. There are now six campuses in:
  • Ohio
  • California
  • New Hampshire
  • Washington
There is also Antioch University Online.

Antioch University Accreditation Details

Students should look at the branch they want to attend to find out what accreditation it has. The main university has accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), which covers all its online programs. Antioch has the approval to grant degrees to any student who completes all its degree requirements. It also has the right to accept funds from the government and pass those funds onto students in the form of financial aid packages.

Antioch University Application Requirements

Antioch has two start dates for the fall, spring and summer semesters. Students have until August 10 or October 20 to submit their applications based on which fall start date they want to begin. The university extends the deadline to February 15 for the spring semester and June 14 for the summer semester. Any undergrad who completed at least 24 credits of work at another school is eligible for one of the university’s online bachelor’s programs. These are completion programs designed to help students finish the degrees they started in the past. Students will also fill out the university’s application form. If the university needs any additional information, it will contact the applicant. It may ask students for up to two letters of recommendation and an interview. During the interview, a professor working for the department the student wants to enroll in will ask questions. This is to determine if the applicant is a good fit for the program. Undergrads must also submit a personal essay, which they will add to the application. Graduate students will also use the Antioch application. They must have a bachelor’s degree and an undergrad GPA of 3.0 or higher. Antioch asks for official transcripts that must come in sealed envelopes to view the grades that the student earned. This also lets the university make sure that the applicant finished a bachelor’s degree. The university does not charge an application fee and does not ask for a standardized test score. It does require that graduate students submit a resume and an admissions essay . Students should also supply one letter of recommendation from a professional or academic reference.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Antioch charges undergrads $350 per credit hour each semester. Graduate students will pay between $625 and $650 per credit hour. All students pay a student services fee of $75 per semester. This fee covers the tech support that the university offers and the live support available for those who need help with their writing. It takes only three steps for students to get financial aid through the university. They must first get a Federal Student Aid ID number and use that ID to create an account on the FAFSA website. Students will then fill out this form and submit it online. Once they receive notice of their aid packages, they should go online and complete a loan counseling session before signing a promissory note. Both undergrads and graduate students will follow these same steps to get federal loans. There are two grants available from the federal government too that do not require students to pay back the money they receive. These programs are only open to undergrads and only allow them to receive money for 12 semesters or four years. The university will provide qualifying students with grants based on their overall needs. Antioch University recommends that students look at external scholarships and other funding options before applying to one of its online degree programs.
