About Chadron State College

Chadron State College is located in Nebraska and is a member of the Nebraska State College System. The college has an open admissions policy where 100 percent of qualified students are admitted. The college was established in 1911 by the state’s legislature. The college’s campus covers 281 acres. Around 3,000 students are enrolled. Some of the buildings on the college’s campus are listed with the National Register of Historic Places. The school’s official colors are white and cardinal. Its athletic teams play in the Rock Mountain Conference. Students are called the Eagles, and they’re part of NCAA Division II games. The school’s motto is “Building Futures Every Day.” There are seven dormitories on the campus.

Chadron State College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), which approves the operations of degree-granting schools throughout the northern Midwest. The HLC offers regional accreditation for the overall institution. Students may apply for federal student loans based on the accreditation status of the college. The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs has approved the business programs at Chadron State College. The National Association for the Education of Young Children has approved the college’s Child Development Center. The National Association of Schools of Music has approved the music department at Chadron State College. The Council on Social Work Education has approved the social work program.

Chadron State College Application Requirements

Chadron State College has an admissions policy where students who can meet the college’s application requirements will be able to enroll in classes in their preferred term. Admission for freshmen applicants begins with the admissions application and continues with the student’s official test scores and official high school transcripts. Students should have their scores sent directly to the college from their high school and testing agencies. Graduate students are required to check with their chosen program to determine the requirements for admission.  The application requirements vary somewhat for the four different graduate degrees at Chadron State College. All students must submit their official transcript from their undergraduate school and prove that they have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. The college may confirm the accuracy of the student’s transcripts with the National Student Loan Data System.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Students who enroll at Chadron State College pay a rate based on their program and whether they attend classes on campus or online. Online classes are charged at a flat rate that depends on the number of credits a student takes. For a full-time load of 12 credits, undergraduate students will pay $3,558.00 for tuition. Graduate students will pay $4,449.00 for tuition. For resident students who attend classes on campus in Chadron, the rate is $3,022.32 when tuition and all other fees are included. The rate for non-resident students in undergraduate classes is $3,034.22. Graduate students who are residents will pay $2,676.24 for nine credits This is considered full-time enrollment for graduate-level work. Non-residents will pay $4,719.24 for nine credits. Financial aid for students at Chadron State College begins with an official financial aid application, which is sent to the federal government. After filing a FAFSA form, students will receive information about their financial aid eligibility. The college will also send the student information about specific awards that may be offered. Aid may include:

The amount of financial aid a student receives is based on the student’s expected family contribution minus the cost of attendance.
